I am Kim
Hi There!
So this is me and my family. Aren't we cute? I love them with just about everything that is within me - not nearly as much as I love Jesus, but I thank God for them every day. They are the reason I started this crazy journey called Photography. Just like every other mom out there, there came a time when I realized the old ladies in the grocery store were right. You know, the ones who would look at me with empathetic eyes when my toddler was throwing a massive tantrum on the floor and would say, wistfully, to enjoy every moment because it goes so quickly. Yeah, right! Right?
I didn't realize it in the every day things, but I did realize it when I blinked and my "baby" had her first tooth. Then I blinked again and my "baby" was 5, heading onto the big yellow school bus. Somehow I turned around and my "baby" was wizzing down the street on a two-wheeler. And it just about slapped me in the face when my "baby" said it was time to register for High School. But what I really wasn't prepared for was when my "baby" graduated and drove off to college on her own.
My passion is Senior photography. I love seniors! It is so much fun to capture bits and pieces of their personalities and we really have a blast doing it! But there's a part of me, deep down on the inside, that is screaming at the top of my lungs "WHOA!!" Because I know that their mom, the one who is standing behind me wiping tears from her eyes, was just yesterday holding her sweet "baby" in her arms singing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star to sleepy little eyes. And now that "baby" is on the cusp of adulthood. In a few short months, she will walk down an aisle to receive a diploma. All of her passions and dreams are colliding with reality and opportunity as she enters the doorway of her very own life. She will now be shooting for the very same stars her mamma sang to her on her lap, just yesterday.
It's a scary reality. Time, that is.
Welcome to life. Welcome to being a parent. Where time no longer follows the second hand on the clock, but it somehow sends us into warp speed, often without us even knowing it.
So one day I picked up my camera. And while I lived life and learned what it meant to be Mom to 4 awesome kids, I also devoured everything I could about photography - and how to do it right. Because having a blurry, underexposed picture of what my kid looked like while he was missing his two front teeth just wasn't enough for me. I want images, works of art if you will, that evoke the emotion of that moment in time. Where I can look into their eyes and almost, maybe, get a glimpse into their soul. Images that are timeless and captivating.
Because that's what my family is. That's what your family is.
And that's how Moments Photography got it's start over 15 years ago. If you choose me as your family photographer, no, I will not come live with you and capture every moment of your lives. That would be a bit creepy. But I will take the time to get to know you and your family. I will spend a couple hours with you while you play and interact together. I will get on your child's level, whether it be as a baby whisperer, a make-believe genius, or a dreamer alongside your high school grad.
I will provide you with images, works of art, that you can proudly display in your home. Images that hang on your wall so every day when you walk through the entryway, you will be reminded of your "baby's" first tooth and that sweet, shy little grin. Your "baby's" wobbly yet feisty first steps. Your "baby's" first encounter with a new sibling. Your "baby's" beautiful smile full of braces. Your "baby's" sassy attitude. And your "baby's" final days as...your baby.
Let's show Father Time he can't win. Let's do this, together.
Kim has taken pictures of my four children on several occasions, and I absolutely love the pictures! She makes it fun for the kids, and this puts my mind at ease. You can trust Kim to take pictures that you will treasure for years to come.
